Amenemope

The modest successor

Amenemope was the successor and likely the son of Psusennes I. He ruled for about nine years. He was laid to rest in his mother's tomb, directly adjacent to his father's chamber in the Tanis necropolis. When French archaeologists discovered his undisturbed tomb in 1940, they found a relatively modest burial compared to his predecessor, containing a thin gold-leaf death mask, several pieces of jewelry, and about 400 *ushabti* figurines.
