An era of immense wealth

Osorkon I succeeded his father Shoshenq I and ruled for roughly 35 years. Instead of aggressively expanding his father's conquests in Canaan, he focused on domestic prosperity and monumental religious donations. Temple inscriptions record that he donated staggering amounts of wealth to the gods, including over 15,000 *deben* (roughly 1,365 kilograms) of gold and 14,000 *deben* of silver to a single temple in Heliopolis. His reign marks an era of intense economic stability for the 22nd Dynasty.
