727–715 BCE
The 24th Dynasty is a short line centred on Sais in the western Delta, represented by Tefnakht and Bakenranef. Tefnakht built a coalition of Delta rulers against the advancing Kushite king Piye.
Bakenranef was defeated and, according to later tradition, killed by the Kushite king Shabaka, which brought the dynasty to an end.
