Early Dynastic Egypt
c. 3000–2686 BCE
The Early Dynastic Period covers the first two dynasties, when a unified Egyptian state took shape. Kings established the royal titles, court and burial customs that later pharaohs inherited, and the state was administered from the Memphis region with royal tombs at Abydos.
The evidence is archaeological, from tombs, labels, seals and objects such as the Narmer Palette, not narrative, so many details are debated.
