Senusret I (Kheperkare)

The great builder

Following his father's assassination, Senusret I swiftly secured the throne. He launched massive building programs across Egypt. His most prominent project was at Karnak in Thebes, where he constructed the beautiful White Chapel. This building celebrated his Sed festival and solidified the national prominence of the god Amun.

Securing the borders

Senusret I aggressively expanded Egypt's borders. He pushed military expeditions deep into Nubia and established a series of heavily fortified garrisons up to the Second Cataract. These outposts allowed him to control the flow of gold and luxury goods into Egypt.
