Transforming the Fayum
Senusret II shifted royal attention toward the Fayum oasis. He initiated massive irrigation and water management projects. Building a system of dikes and canals, he connected the Fayum to the Bahr Yussef. This infrastructure transformed the region into a highly productive agricultural center. Reflecting his intense focus on the area, he built his pyramid at Lahun, near the entrance to the Fayum.
